The Northern Ireland Goat club is to host the British Goat Society Autumn conference on October 24.

The local society is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year and intends to make it an event to remember.

The club continues to provide both an ever growing number of shows each year along with a platform to share knowledge on keeping and showing goats. Over the years Northern Ireland have seen a number of goats becoming full and breed champions.

Guest speakers from the UK and Ireland will cover topics such as nutrition, conformation and production, successful kid rearing and an insight into boar goats.

The event begins at 10.30am in Banbridge Town Hall. Lunch will also be served. Cost is £25 per person and anyone wishing to attend should contact the club treasurer Pat McIvor on 02897 541641.
