Weather conditions could hardly have been better for the 70th Annual Lisburn and Saintfield District Show, now in its third year at Balmoral Park.

Tasked with selecting the Saintfield qualifiers for the 2015 McLarnon Feeds/NISA Dairy Cow Championship was Mr Kenneth Stubbs from Irvinestown, Co. Fermanagh.

After careful consideration, Kenneth selected Croagh Petrelleet ET EX90 from the well-known Cluntagh Holstein herd of Stephen Robinson, Crossgar, as his first qualifier.

Now in her 3rd lactation, Petrelleet calved down in March and is currently averaging 50 litres/day. She is projected to exceed 11,500 litres for the lactation.

Kenneth’s second qualifier was the 3rd lactation Jersey, Clandeboye Jazzy Bambi VG88, from the Clandeboye Estate Herd, Bangor. This fine example of the Jersey breed yielded 7,600 litres in her 2nd lactation at 5.2% Butterfat and 3.9% Protein. Her qualification for the 2015 McLarnon Feeds/NISA Dairy Cow Championship Final follows success at this year’s Balmoral Show, where she was awarded the Jersey Reserve Champion.

McLarnons wish both qualifiers every success at the final of the McLarnon Feeds/NISA Dairy Cow Championship at Antrim Show on Saturday 25th July.
