Plans are very much underway for this year’s Ballymena Show being held on Friday 29th and Saturday 30th May.

Chairperson, Robert Dick is delighted to welcome the Bank of Ireland UK on board this year as Premium Sponsor of the Show and looks forward to working with the Ballymena Branch in the future.

William Thompson, Agri Manager, Bank of Ireland commented: “Ballymena Show, as the first country show to be held after Balmoral, is always greatly supported by a high number of exhibitors from throughout Northern Ireland highlighting what is best about the agriculture sector in Northern Ireland.

“Sections include poultry, sheep, goats, cattle, show jumping, horse and pony, home industries crafts and floral art with significant prize money and trophies to be won.”

Within these, Robert highlighted a few of the new activities that will be taking place this year which includes a two day judging event within the goat section which is in recognition and celebration of the 50th anniversary of the British Goat Society and also a young handlers class.

Other sections have minor changes to their schedules and it is hoped that all will remain competitive but friendly and well supported.

All livestock and other exhibits can be viewed throughout the Saturday and organisers very much look forward to the varied and exciting exhibits created by local school children and various groups that support the Show.

JD Country and Shauna McStravock will be supplying the entertainment alongside cookery demonstrations, entertainment and a wide variety of stands.

This year the show will open to the public at 4pm on the Friday which will allow for the first time spectators to enjoy the horse jumping events.

For a second year the fun dog show will also be held on the Friday evening with the emphasis very much on fun and it is hoped that all dog owners will come along and enter this competition where prizes will be awarded for many categories including fancy dress.

Health pet checks and free micro – chipping will also be available on the evening.

In conjunction with the Association of Old Vehicles Club a number of vintage vehicles will also be in attendance throughout the Friday evening and as in previous years the sheep shearing competitions will be held.

Ballymena Show is being held on Friday 29th May from 4pm and Saturday 30th May from 9am.

For more information and a timetable of events join the show on facebook or alternatively contact the show office by email on secretary@ballymenashow.co.uk.
