Past and present members and friends of Bleary Young Farmers’ Club celebrated 85 years of the club recently at Brownlow House, Lurgan.

The exceptional venue was packed with those wishing the Club well in the future and a truly memorable evening was had with a four course meal, raffle, charity auction and entertainment and dancing. Music was provided by Asbury Gents.

The club would like to thank Brownlow House for their kind hospitality and much enjoyed meal.

The facilities were excellent and everyone was made to feel very welcome.

Guest speaker for the evening was YFCU president Martyn Blair.

The club expresses their sincere thanks to Martyn for attending, as the club know that he has a very busy schedule.

The club’s thanks are also extended to Roberts Simmons YFCU deputy president and James Speers YFCU vice president for supporting the anniversary event.

Also addressing the guests were club leader William McCracken and club president Mrs Heather Wilson.

A vote of thanks was delivered by club secretary Emma Boyes and Grace led by assistant secretary Louise Halliday.

Great entertainment was provided by Rodney Clarke who also demonstrated his auctioneering skills at the charity auction.

Thanks are also extended to former club president Mary Bloomer MBE for

attending the evening and sharing in the momentous occasion of cutting the anniversary cake, assisted by

club leader and YFCU president.

The club is indebted to the many businesses who kindly supported the evening, either through donations for the charity auction, through financial support or gifts for the club raffle. This input was greatly appreciated by all.

The charity auction in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support raised an amazing total of £520 on the night, with monetary donations still being received.

Sincere thanks to all bidders and buyers who made the auction a success.

Everyone, whether a current member, past member or friend of the club, their support at such a significant milestone was gratefully appreciated by the club.

There is no doubt that Bleary YFC has received enthusiastic support over the last 85 years and the club is very appreciative to those founding members and the club can only hope that the organisation will go from strength to strength in the next 85 years.
