After many weeks of planning and preparation the chairman and Committee of Sperrin Producers Co-operative Ltd were able to relax and enjoy their 25th anniversary celebration at the Shepherds Rest, Draperstown.
Colin and his team at the Shepherds Rest created a hog roast banquet fit for any hungry farmer. The members and guests of Sperrin Producers certainly enjoyed the feast of fine food, presented to them on the evening.
Noel Cochrane, the chairman, thanked the members for their continued support and assured them that the future is bright within Sperrin Producers.
He reiterated that the committee would continue to strive to ensure that members would benefit in all areas and across all buying groups to achieve the best possible prices.
The chairman took the opportunity to welcome Maurice Surphlis and Colin Gibson of L W Surphlis and Martin Scott from John Thompson & Sons. Over the years both businesses have built a strong working relationship with Sperrin Producers. Noel also extended his thanks to them and the other businesses not in attendance who had generously provided sponsorship for this 25th anniversary event.
Sperrin Producers have supported many charities over the years and this year is no exception. Charis Cancer Care is located in the Sperrin catchment area and as they rely completely on donations and grants for their survival it seemed like the perfect fit for the chosen charity this year.
The chairman invited Kathleen from Charis to say a few words about the very specialist work they do for those on a cancer journey.
It was a privilege for Noel Cochrane to be able to present a cheque to Charis from Sperrin Producers to mark the occasion.
