Steady trade for 1275 sheep at Markethill

An entry of 1275 sheep at Markethill on Wednesday 6th July returned a steady trade for fat lambs.

Stores and cull sheep sold in a very firm trade.

Heavy lambs sold from £82 to £88 each and up to 352p per kilo for 24kilos at £84.50 each. Main demand sold from 325p to 348p per kilo.

Good quality middleweight lambs sold readily from 355p to 391p per kilo for 22kilos at £86 each, followed by 384p per kilo for 21.5 kilos at £82.50 each.

Stores sold to 400p per kilo for 13.5 kilos at £54 each. Main demand for light stores sold from 350p to 389p per kilo for 14 kilos at £54.50 each. Stronger stores sold from 335p to 355p per kilo for 19.7 kilos at £70 each.

Cull ewes sold to £119 each. Main demand sold from £70 to £101 each. Plainer ewes sold from £50 to £65 each.
