Steady trade for all types of sheep at Markethill

An entry of 1610 sheep at Markethill on Wednesday 3rd February sold in a steady trade.

The 1180 hoggets sold readily with heavy pens from £88 to £92 each. Top rate of 367p per kilos was paid for 24 kilos at £88, followed by 362p per kilo for 24.2 kilos at £87.50 each. Main demand sold from 340p to 360p per kilo. In all, 630 heavy hoggets averaged 25.7 kilos at £87.30 each (339p).

Good quality middleweights sold from 350p to 380p per kilo with a top of 384p per kilo paid three times for 22.6 kilos at £86.80 and for 22 kilos at £84.50 each.

Stores sold from 340p to 369p per kilo for 19 kilos at £70 each.

Good quality cull ewes sold from £70 to £89 each.

A full yard of ewes and lambs sold in a firm demand. Good quality doubles sold from £185 to £252 each. Singles sold to £175 with others from £130 to £165 each.
