Strong seasonal entry of quality cattle at Swatragh

Cattle: Another strong seasonal entry of quality cattle on Monday 27th June met a flying trade with a good ring of buyers with some very good prices, more quality stock is required to meet demand.

Heifers selling to £755 for 356kg (£2.12 per kg), bullocks selling to £1,040 for 520kgs ( £2.00 per kg).

Sample prices: Heifers: Swatragh producer; 356kg, £755; 244kg, £380; Coleraine producer 428kg, £765; 484kg, £890; 472kg, £830; Cookstown producer 352kg, £550; Portglenone producer 366kg, £680; 284kg, £475; 494kg, £905.

Bullocks: Swatragh producer 520kg, £1,040; 432kg, £800; 450kg, £865; Coleraine producer 408kg, £765; 440kg, £785; Magherafelt producer 404kg, £700; 404kg, £645; 378kg, £590; Portglenone producer 410kg, £730; Magherafelt producer 462kg, £720; 368kg, £605; 244kg, £540.

Sheep: Another super entry of 785 sheep at Swatragh on Saturday 25th June witnessed a very good lamb trade. Several pens of heavy lambs sold well in excess of £84 each to a top rate of £92.60, middleweight lambs sold to ££85 for 22.75kg, ewes sold to £87.00 with over 120 on offer and ewes and lambs sold to £157.00.

Middleweight lambs: Cookstown producer 4 lambs 22.75kg at 85.00 = 374p; Garvagh producer 4 lambs 21.25kg at 84.00 = 395p; Swatragh producer 16 lambs 22kg at 83.60 = 380p; Ballymoney producer 4 lambs 21.75kg at 83.00 = 382p; Garvagh producer 9 lambs 22kg at 82.00 = 373p; Ballymena producer 5 lambs 21.75kg at 81.80 = 376p.

Ewes: Ballygawley producer 12 Texels at 87.00; Maghera producer 1 Texel at 86.00.
