Strong trade for cattle at Markethill

An entry of 400 store cattle, weanlings and sucklers at Markethill on Saturday 30th May sold in an exceptionally strong trade with top quality cattle in particular selling in a noticeably firmer demand.

Heifers

The 130 store heifers included several pens of quality forward heifers which sold to £220 for 560kg at £1235. Main demand from £190 to £204 per 100kg. Middle weights to £260 for 430kg at £1120, followed by £248 for 470kg at £1170. Main demand from £190 to £214. Suitable lightweight heifer from £200 to £228 for 310kg at £705. Second quality lots from £170 to £186.
