Catalogues are available for the forthcoming Dungannon dairy sale on Thursday 15th December.

Taaffe Auctions has confirmed that the catalogue includes 65 fresh calved heifers and cows, 25 bulling and yearling heifers, 13 heifer calves, and three pedigree Holstein bulls.

The event will also host the final part of the ongoing dispersal on behalf of Edmond Smith, Ballygawley.

The pre-sale show is generously sponsored by AI Services (NI) Ltd, and will be judged by David Simpson from the noted Damm Herd based at Lisburn. Judging gets underway at 11.00am, and will be followed by the sale at noon.

The pedigree Holstein entry includes fresh calved heifers and cows from leading herds, including Ardmore, Ards, Bloomhill, Carneyhill (12), Carrickfarm, Carrowcroft, Cluntagh, Happy, Hilltara (13), Killane, Lisrawglen and Relough (12).

They are daughters of top AI bulls such as Mogul, Massey, Pesky, Mardi Gras, Ardie, Galaxy, Sudan, Lavaman, Flyn, Uno, Goldfarm and Pello.

Included in the monthly auction are 25 bulling and yearling heifers, and 10 heifer calves, from Charlie Weir’s Burnhill Herd based at Waringstown. Richard Shanks from the Bloomhill Herd in Tandragee is also selling three heifer calves.

The bulls on offer include two pedigree Holsteins from Andrew Magowan’s Bannwater Herd at Rathfriland. They include a May 2015 Goldchip son bred from Bannwater Allen Sheba 53 EX94-4E who produced 10,355kgs at 4.02% fat and 3.21% protein in her sixth lactation.

Noel Willis, Conncorr Herd, Portadown, is offering a pedigree red and white bull.

Rounding off the day’s sale is the final part of Edmond Smith’s herd dispersal, which includes 25 heifers and cows. Auctioneer Michael Taaffe said: “These are great commercial cows with a blend of Holstein, British Friesian and Jersey bloodlines. They have all calved since the dispersal sale on 10th November, and include some more ‘All-Black beauties’.”
