The Ulster Farmers’ Union is delighted to be on board again for the fifth annual Farming Life and Danske Bank awards.

The UFU is sponsoring the ‘Farming Champion’ award which is just one of a number of categories in the fifth annual farming exellence showcase.

As well as a number of awards recognising Northern Ireland’s primary producers, there is also a range of business awards and special recognition categories.

An additional category this year is the Farm SAFE Award, sponsored by the Farm Safety Partnership.

UFU President Ian Marshall said: “We believe every opportunity should be taken to celebrate the talent, entrepreneurship and excellence that exists in our industry, especially amongst our farmers, and the Farming Life and Danske Bank Awards allows us to do just that.

“Over the years our industry has gained recognition as a sector with the potential to drive Northern Ireland’s economy forward. The agri-food sector is now sustaining over 92,000 local jobs and is poised for further growth, however, going forward we need to see all supply chain partners, including farmers, benefiting from the development of the agri-food industry. It is important that our industry continues to have the opportunity for growth and gets the credit it deserves.

“The UFU is proud to sponsor the Farming Champion award. The award is open to those who, through their activities, demonstrate an outstanding achievement in championing the cause of Northern Ireland’s farming industry through innovation, promotion or campaigning.

“We have many talented, passionate and committed people in our farming community who have consistently promoted our industry in the good times and the bad. We believe that these people deserve to be recognised and we look forward to seeing the entries coming in.”

For full details of all the categories and how to enter, see the advert on page 16.

The closing date for entries is Friday, 4th September. The awards gala will take place in the Ramada Plaza, Belfast on Thursday, 29th October 2015.
