Uplift in sheep prices at Markethill

An entry of 1250 sheep at Markethill on Wednesday 17th December maintained their recent uplift in prices.

Heavy lambs sold from £85 to £88 each with a top of £88.50 each. Top rate of 356p per kilo was paid for 24 kilos at £86 each. All good quality pens sold from 340p to 354p per kilo. In all, 520 heavy lambs averaged 26 kilos at £87.20 each (335p).

Middleweight lambs sold to 383p per kilo for 20 kilos at £76.80 each. Main demand sold from 360p to 380p per kilo.

Store trade was again improved with all good quality pens selling from 380p to 420p per kilo for 16.8 kilos at £70.50. Stronger stores sold from 393p per kilo for 19.3 kilos at £76 each.

Cull ewes sold from £70 to £95 each with 2nds from £50 to £65 each.
