The Royal Ulster Agricultural Society (RUAS) has launched the 30th Winter Fair in association with Danske Bank.

The celebration took place at Brookhall, Lisburn, only a short distance away from the new Eikon Exhibition Centre at Balmoral Park, denoting a change of venue for the event’s 30th year.

The Winter Fair will be held in the new exhibition space, Eikon Exhibition Centre on 10th December. As the premier event in the national dairy calendar, it provides an opportunity for farmers, exhibitors and industry specialists alike to meet. Competition will be fierce as quality livestock from Northern Ireland and ROI compete for the coveted title of Supreme Champion

Danske Bank have been continuous sponsors of the event spanning its lifetime.

John Henning, head of agricultural relations at Danske Bank commented: “Danske Bank’s sole sponsorship of the Winter Fair now reaches thirty years - which is quite an achievement in an era where such long term business relationships aren’t as common place, as they once were – so we are very proud to have sponsored one of the biggest events in the agri-food calendar in Northern Ireland since its inception way back in 1986.

“We value these close links with the Winter Fair and hope that our investment in the event - both financial and people - has contributed to the undoubted success of this major dairy showcase.

“Our support for the Winter Fair reflects a strong and ongoing commitment to the wider agri-food industry in Northern Ireland – both in terms of our significant lending to the sector and the expertise of our dedicated Agribusiness team.

“It’s the event ‘where the dairy industry meets’ each December and I have no doubt that this year’s Winter Fair on 10th December will be no exception – despite the uncertain times currently facing dairy farmers.”

Colin McDonald, chief executive, RUAS noted: “Danske Bank’s role in continuing to support long term business investments when near-term financial rewards are far from good cannot be underestimated. The same is true for the remainder of the many and varied service industries who exhibit at the Winter Fair. Without their support our dairy sector would not be the world-class player it is.”

Admission for adults £10, 12–18years £8, seniors (over 65) £8, under 12s free when accompanied by an adult and RUAS members are free of charge.
