April 1 saw the NI Young Limousin Breeders team travel over to the Three Counties Showgrounds to compete at the inaugural National Young Show Stars competition.
The team consisted of Alan Burleigh, James McComb and Ruth Hamill.
The competition consisted of 20 teams from throughout Britain and also a team from Canada competing over two days, beginning from the moment they walked into the showgrounds until the moment the prizes were awarded.
Over the two days, all the teams were judged by various judges on Clipping and Cattle Preparation, Ringcraft, Stall and Stand promotional skills, Public interview and Stock judging and reasons with a remarkable 1,000 points up for grabs.
Despite being the youngest team in the competition; Alan, James and Ruth finished a very credible fifth overall with only a few points separating the top places.
After the competition the judges complimented the team on their ‘professional approach and organisation skills’ also saying how impressed they were at how they ‘always worked as a team and would be capable at competing at the highest level’.
The team would like to say a special thanks to their sponsors for their continued support throughout and leading up to the competition.
The team sponsors were Norbrook Laboratories; The British Limousin Cattle Society; Johnston Gilpin; and Galloway and Macleod.
