MARTIN Dally, of Super Sires Ltd, California, USA, has made a buying mission to Northern Ireland.
Martin frequently visits The Royal Welsh Show where he selects rams of various breeds to supplement his semen sales. As part of his business is AIing ewes in USA, he became involved with breeders who had used Northern Ireland Ile de France semen.
Having heard favourable reports about NI stock he decided to have a look himself.
Martin visited Castlewellan Show where he became interested in several breeds. Later, during his farm visits, he inspected Ile de France rams in David Mulligan's Glenhoy Flock at Augher, which is likely to result in another consignment of Ile de France semen heading for USA.
Sheep breeders in USA will only use semen from high performance recorded rams. David will have some recorded Ile de France rams at the Ulster Bank/National Sheep Association Recorded Ram Sale on the evening of Monday, September 10.
