RESULTS of the Northern Ireland Fruit Growers' Association orchard judging competition are:

Aberdeen Cup, the top award for five acres plus: 1, Graham and Jonathan Hewitt; 2, Gordon Glass; 3, Keith Freeburn; 4, Noel McAlister; 5, Nathan Loney; 6, David Glass; 7, Richard Johnston; 8, Morgan Brothers.
Gibson Challenge Cup, for orchards of
three to five acres: 1, Graham and Jonathan Hewitt; 2, Kane Brothers; 3, Brian Hampton; 4, Keith Freeburn; 5, David Glass; 6, Noel McAlister; 7, Andrew Price; 8, Nathan Loney; 9, Richard Johnston.
McKeag and Webb Cup, for orchards of one to three acres: 1, Graham and Jonathan Hewitt; 2, David Glass; 3, Noel McAlister; 4, Kane Brothers; 5, Nathan Loney; 6, Brian Hampton; 7, Andrew Price; 8, Richard Johnston.
Murphy Cup, for an orchard that has not won a trophy in the past four seasons, and between one and three acres: 1, Noel McAlister; 2, Graham and Jonathan Hewitt; 3, Brian Hampton; 4, Gordon Glass; 5, Andrew Price; 6, Nathan Loney; 7, Drew Lavery; 8, Richard Johnston.
Raymond Price Memorial Trophy, for an intensive orchard system (high density): 1, Drew Lavery; 2, Keith Freeburn; 3, David Johnston; 4, Richard Johnston.
R H McClelland Challenge Cup, for young orchards: 1, David Johnston; 2, Andrew Price; 3, Richard Johnston.
Zeneca Plant Protection Cup, for the highest state of crop husbandry and freedom from pests and diseases: Kane Brothers.
Yara/Phosyn Cup, best fruit analysis of the season: 1, John Gilpin; 2, Brian Hampton; 3, Garfield Gilpin.
