Beef bred cows sell from £125 to £162 at Markethill Mart

An entry of 190 cull cows at Markethill on Tuesday 22nd November continued to sell in a very firm trade.

Beef bred cows sold from £125 to £162 per 100 kilos for 706k at £1145.

Fleshed Friesian cows sold from £97 to £113 per 100 kilos for 648k at £730. Second quality Friesians from £80 to £90 per 100 kilos and the poorest quality lots from £50 to £70 per 100 kilos.

In the dairy ring top price of £1620 was paid for a predigree Holstein bull from a Poyntzpass farmer. Calved heifers sold from £1200 each.

CALVES: 220 lots in the calf ring sold in a steady trade. Good quality bulls sold to £390 for a BB bull. Main demand from £260 to £380. Good quality heifer calves from £200 to a top of £370 for a BB.
