Heavy hoggets sold from £88 to £93.50 each at Markethill

An entry of 1,580 sheep on Wednesday 1st March at Markethill continued to sell in a noticeably firmer trade.

Heavy hoggets sold from £88 to £93.50 each with all good quality pens from 345p to a top of 375p per kg for 24k at £90 each.

In all, 795 heavy hoggets averaged 26.2k at £90.50 each (345p).

Midweight hoggets sold to 384p per kg for 23k at £88.20 each followed by 378p per kg for 22.2k at £84 each.

All top quality midweights from 365p per kg to 378p per kg.

A smaller entry of stores sold to a top of 406p per kg for 16k at £65, stronger stores to 392p per kg for 19.9k at £78 each.

Good quality cull ewes sold from £70 to £94 each, second quality from £50 to £65 each.

A full yard of ewes and lambs sold in an excellent trade, doubles £245 with several more outfits from £190 to £230. Singles sold to a top of £160 with others from £130 to £155 each.
