Markethill Mart: Heavy hoggets selling from £88 to £93.50 each

An entry 1,400 sheep at Markethill on Wednesday 15th March returned a steady trade for fat hoggets.

Cull ewe trade was firmer and breeding sheep returned a strong demand, 900 hoggets sold readily with heavy hoggets selling from £88 to £93.50 each.

Top rate of 368p per kilo was paid for 24.3 kilos at £89.50 each. All good quality heavies from 335p to 359p per kilo.

Middleweight hoggets sold to 370p per kilo for 21.9 kilos at £81 each. Main demand sold from 340p to 368p per kilo.

A large entry of ewes and lambs sold in an excellent trade.

Doubles reached £235 with several outfits from £180 to £222 each.

Singles sold to £162 each.

Several more sold from £140 to £155 each.

200 cull ewes sold to a top of £119 with all heavy ewes from £80 to £117 each.

Second quality ewes sold from £60 to £75 each.
