AgriSearch sponsors world class research

This includes theatre and poster presentations to around 1300 delegates from 69 countries, according to Jason Rankin, General Manager of AgriSearch.

“AgriSearch is delighted to sponsor EAAP 2016 in Belfast as our mission is to drive the profitability and sustainability of the Northern Ireland ruminant livestock sector.

“EAAP 2016 will enable us to showcase our wide ranging research and innovation programme and gives us an invaluable opportunity to engage with scientists and industry leaders from across the world which we very much hope will lead to further opportunities to engage in international projects for the benefit of Northern Ireland dairy, beef and sheep farmers. Topics covered include dry cow nutrition, the use of high-protein forages in dairy cow diets and synchronisation methods for suckler cows, to name but a few,” he said.

As part of the conference sponsorship, AgriSearch is hosting an industry session entitled ‘Using on-farm research and the multi-actor approach to boost the effectiveness of knowledge exchange’.

Jason Rankin continued: “Alongside our research partners, AgriSearch has pioneered the use of on-farm research. We have found this to be an excellent way to conduct certain research projects not only because we can run trials with large numbers of animals in a range of environments and farming systems but more importantly because we can hold knowledge transfer events (farm walks) on these farms. The fact that these new systems and technologies have already been proven on a commercial farm makes it far more likely that they will be adopted by other farmers.”

The 67th annual EAAP meeting is being held in the Waterfront Hall and Conference Centre from 29th August to 2nd September.
