FOLLOWING two successful workshop events recently held by CAFRE on the business planning aspects of Anaerobic Digestion, a similar workshop is planned to be held at Greenmount Campus on Friday 8 March 2013.
This training is targeted at those who are either investing in Anaerobic Digestion Biogas facilities, or actively considering such an investment.
The course starting at 10am and finishing mid-afternoon will be delivered by Charlie Kilpatrick and Nigel Moore from CAFRE’s Greenmount Campus. They will use their experience to provide typical costs and gas production yields under local conditions, to help participants work through the costs and returns involved in units of this type.
The morning session will review a business plan to invest in an anaerobic digester and will focus on cost of feedstock and implications on tax by using the current capital allowances recently increased in the autumn 2012 budget. As part of the workshop, the computer based Anderson Model will be used to demonstrate the outcome from individual farm situations and consider a number of ‘what if; options. The Model will be accessed at computer points in the IT teaching classroom at Greenmount Campus. Participants will be given the opportunity to input their own figures to generate results specific to their own investment scenario.
