Dating back to 1928, the Coltrim herd is owned by Neville Forsythe from Moneymore, and boasts some of the most sought-after bloodlines in the Aberdeen Angus breed.

The catalogue includes 31 females, comprising of cows with 2016-born calves at foot, in-calf cows, in-calf heifers and maiden heifers.

The cows and heifers on offer range in age from July 2007 to July 2015 and are from the herd’s noted Evana, Lady Jane, Diana, Princess and Penelope cow families.

The cows are daughters of successful herd sires such as the Ankonian Elixir son, Kiltariff Dynamic D711, Curragh David J513, Coltrim Eagle L822, and the noted Wedderlie Net Profit E916, whose sons have sold to a top of 16,000gns at Stirling. Semen from Wedderlie Net Profit has been used extensively by herds in the UK and Ireland, and has been exported as far afield as Sweden.

The heifers on offer are daughters of herd sires Wedderlie Ergo M574, by Wedderlie Black Knight E901, and Kiltariff Lord Tornado M433, by Ardossan Admira A2. They are also the service sires of the females P’d in-calf.

Rounding off the sale are two service age bulls, including the April 2015 born Coltrim Elliott, who is in the breed’s top 5% with a Breedplan terminal sire index +42 and self replacing index +57. He has a calving ease score of +3 (top 10%), and is +15 for milk (top 15%).

The Coltrim Herd has featured strongly in the NI Aberdeen Angus Club’s annual herds inspection competition in recent years. It was adjudged best large herd in 2006, 2007, and runner-up in 2009, 2010 and 2013. Coltrim also scooped the runner-up award in the medium herd category six times between 1999 and 2005.
