IT’S that time of year again when all roads lead to the Mart in Ballymena for Northern Ireland’s Premier Clydesdale Foal Show, on Saturday 8th December.

There will be classes for all ages of horses, which includes Senior and Foal Championships. The popular Young Handlers competition which will be held after the Overall Championship is open to 10-18 year olds, kindly sponsored annually by Bratwell Clydesdales (Holmes/Cochrane).

Entries for showing classes and young handlers will be taken on the day.

The judge for this year’s show is the well known Scotsman, Jock Strang, from Rigside, Lanarkshire.

Once again the society are indebted to Ulster Bank (main sponsor) and Ann Calwell for their valued support and sponsorship, and also to Jervis Nutt Esq and the numerous members who have donated special prizes down through the classes.

The society would also like to thank Kenneth Irwin (Blue Grass Horse Feeds) Dungannon, who has again sponsored the Senior and Reserve Senior Championship.

This will be the sixth year undercover in Ballymena and the society are grateful to Shaun Irvine and his staff at J.A. McClelland & Sons, for granting permission to hold the show in such excellent facilities.
