Dilly Agricultural Contracting adds to a unique heritage of engineering excellence

Over the past 10 years, the Dilly name has become synonymous with the highest standards of service, where the manufacture/supply of roofing supplies and cold rolled galvanised steel buildings are concerned.

And, latterly, these same principles have been enshrined in a new agri contracting operation. The man behind these innovative ventures is Thomas Dilly, who hails from Derrylee in North County Armagh. And 2016 marks his tenth anniversary year in business.

“The two manufacturing companies, very much, complement each other,” he said.

“The initial business, Dilly Roofing Supplies, manufactures corrugated and box profile single cladding for both farm and industrial buildings. We also supply flashing, guttering, door tracking, roller doors and associated fittings.

“DRS Steel Buildings was established five years ago. The company manufactures, supplies and fits bespoke cold rolled galvanised frame steel buildings, suitable for domestic garages, workshops, tyre depots, workshops, stables, beauty salons and furniture stores.

“Each building is manufactured to size and features a cold, rolled galvanised, bolt-together frame, PVC coated cladding, an insulated personnel guttering.

“A non-drip roof and skylight are also included in each specification, as standard. We will also carry out all required groundworks, if requested. Each building is bolted to a 6-inch concrete base. We are currently working with customers from all parts of Northern Ireland.”

The latest addition to Thomas’ stable is Dilly Agricultural Contracting.

“I have a very strong farming background, so it made sense to start up the contracting business two years ago. We offer a comprehensive service, which includes: round baling and wrapping, mowing, tedding, raking, slurry spreading, self-propelled forage harvesting and hedge cutting. A 13t digger and dump trailer are also available for hire.”

Earlier this week Thomas received delivery of a new Kuhn 1B10 baler and wrapper from dealer D S Logan in Cullybackey. The machine features Kuhn’s new film-on-film technology.

“The machine replaces the previous IB10 baler, also supplied by D S Logan last year,” Thomas confirmed.

“We are looking forward to the grass season ahead.

He concluded: “The last 10 years have been marked by consistent growth and development across all the businesses. The plan is to maintain this momentum during the period ahead.”
