Holden takes the helm at NI Ploughing Association

Wilson Holden from Larne has again been elected Chairman of the Northern Ireland Ploughing Association having led the Association for the past five years.

Lyndley Deans from Limavady has been elected Vice Chairman.

In reviewing the past year it was decided to switch the venue for the International Ploughing Championships, which for the past two years was held at Balmoral Park. It had been the custom to rotate the venue around the Province and this year an ideal site has been granted on the edge of Limavady town.

When the International Championships have been held in the North Coast in previous years it has always been well attended, and this year not only has the Association moved to the Causeway Coast but it has changed the dates to 19th and 20th August.

The Ploughing championships are very weather dependent and have been previously held in the month of October. By moving to August hopefully the event will get sunshine.

August also has the advantage of being holiday time, when organisers hope to attract visitors not only to the Ploughing event but will encourage them to stay longer and enjoy what the Causeway Coast has to offer.
