NISA Championships kick off for 2016

Northern Ireland Shows Association (NISA) Championships kick off this weekend at Ballymena Show, and continue throughout the summer.

NISA supports the McLarnon’s Feeds Dairy Cow Championships, Bank of Ireland Junior Bull Championships, Danske Bank Sheep Championships, Linden Foods Beef Heifer Championships and the A N Irwin & Sons Clydesdale Championships.

NISA works to support and promote agricultural Shows throughout Northern Ireland, facilitating forums where officials and supporters from the various areas can raise their particular queries or offer advice to others.

The Championships this year will culminate at the following venues:

Bank of Ireland Junior Bull Championships at Antrim Show on 23rd July.

McLarnon’s Feeds Dairy Cow Championship at Clogher Valley Show on 27th July.

Danske Bank Sheep Championship at Co. Londonderry Show on 30th July

Linden Foods Beef Heifer Championship at Fermanagh Show on 3rd August.

The A.N. Irwin & Sons Clydesdale Championship is run on a league basis, and runs right through to the end of the Show season.

Today (Saturday) sees the local show season get underway with large crowds expected at the annual Ballymena Show which takes place at the town’s showgrounds.

The public will be treated to a feast of local livestock as well as entertainment to suit all ages and members of the family.
