The competition is open to pedigree bulls born on or after 1st January 2015, and breeders have been competing at the various provincial shows for a place in the final line-up.

Judge for the 2016 championship is Scottish breeder Dougie McBeath.

The prize fund includes £300 for first prize, with £200 going to the second placed entry, and £100 for the third prize winner.

Antrim Show boasts an action-packed schedule featuring a host of classes for horticulture and home industries, dairy and beef cattle, pigs, goats, and 20 breeds of sheep, as well as a variety of classes for equine enthusiasts.

Society vice-chairman Robert Wallace said: “We are also looking forward to welcoming the NI Dexter Group’s premier show; and the NI Limousin Championships. A big thank you to our sponsors for their continued support.”

The one-day show which takes place at Shane’s Castle on Saturday 23rd July, is also hosting qualifiers for the Linden Foods/NISA Beef Heifer Championship, open to pedigree heifers born on or after 1st January 2015; and the McLarnon Feeds/NISA Dairy Cow Championship. This is the last chance to qualify for a place ahead of Clogher Show finals.
