BÓTHAR Northern Ireland is asking local people to spread the love by giving families in the developing world that extra special gift this Valentine’s Day.

When you buy a Bóthar NI ‘Bee My Honey’ Valentine’s Day card or make a donation to the charity, the money will go towards buying honeybees for families in Uganda, Tanzania and Cameroon – helping to create a sustainable living environment for local communities who could not otherwise survive.

Bóthar NI representative Aoibheann Fearon explains: “This Valentine’s Day we would encourage people across Northern Ireland to spread the love a little further than their nearest and dearest. What better way to do that than to support our campaign with the gift that keeps on giving after the occasion of Valentine’s Day has taken place.

“Honeybees can have a life changing impact for people in developing countries so I would ask the public to support our campaign in any way they can - no donation is too small!”

Bóthar NI provides a range of sustainable gifts to the developing world. Before they supply the family with their bees, they train them in how to look after them and in how to market the honey and the wax. The systems that they put in place ensure the bees or any gift animal continues to support the family and eventually the rest of the local community for many years to come.
