THE Livestock and Meat Commission for Northern Ireland (LMC) presented the award for best Northern Ireland store to Asda Antrim at the annual SuperMeat and Fish Awards ceremony which was held at the Hilton Park Lane, London on 5th July 2012.

The SuperMeat & Fish Awards were set up more than a decade ago to reward excellence in supermarket retailing and manufacturing of meat, poultry and fish products.

The awards, which are organized by the Meat Trades Journal, are the largest of their kind in the meat industry, with up to 500 industry professionals attending each year.

The awards recognise both individual retail outlets, and assess, review and reward new and existing products in the sector.

LMC was one of five main sponsors of this prestigious event in 2012 which was hosted by Welsh television presenter Gethin Jones.

LMC chairman Pat O’Rourke, who presented the award for best Northern Ireland store commented: “LMC is delighted to have been involved once again as a sponsor for the 2012 SuperMeat and Fish Awards. There was a very strong field of nominees across the various award categories and congratulations go to Asda Antrim who were worthy winners of the best Northern Ireland store award for the second year running.

“A number of Northern Ireland meat processing companies also featured as suppliers in the hotly contested product category awards and it was encouraging to see so many new and innovative meat products being show cased at this important annual event.”
