Practical on-farm renewable energy event at Enniskillen
Plans are now finalised for the Practical On-farm Renewable Energy event at Enniskillen on 13 February.
PREPARATIONS are now finalised for the Practical On-farm Renewable Energy event. This will be held on the Enniskillen Campus of CAFRE on Wednesday 13 February, from 1.00 to 10.00 pm. The aim of the day is to provide practical information and guidance for people considering an investment in renewable energy.
The accompanying table details two series of seminars running throughout the day. One series will consider the various renewable energy technologies and the other covers the challenges involved in carrying out a renewable energy project. Some of the technologies considered will include the production and burning of biomass, solar systems and the steps involved in installing a small wind turbine. Among the challenges addressed by the speakers are Grant Funding, Taxation and Business Planning, Grid Connection and Finance. Others cover the main financial support systems; NIROCs for electricity and the Renewable Heat Incentive and the Renewable Heat Premium Payment for heat production.
In addition, there will be almost fifty trade stands where all the renewable energy technologies can be viewed and discussed. Tours of the College biomass boiler will run throughout the day. This boiler provides the majority of the heating for the entire complex and has reduced fuel costs by around 35%.
Full details of the day are found on the Renewable Energy section of the Rural Portal at http://www.dardni.gov.uk/ruralni/final_seminar_programme.pdf
