ROSEMOUNT Estate, Greyabbey, Co. Down, on the shores of the breathtaking Strangford Lough, will be the venue for the County Down Traction Engine Club’s annual working vintage festival on Saturday 11 August.

The festival will have all the usual activities and exhibits.

In the working field there will be the harvesting and threshing of oats, combining, baling, ploughing, tractor pulling, etc and the ever popular “pick your own” potatoes. In the main rally field there will be large displays of vintage tractors, steam engines, vintage cars and motor cycles, vintage lorries, stationary engines, implements, craft tents, trade stands, autojumble, amusements, live music and much, much more for all the family. This year’s special features include a Landrover display and a display of Fordson E27N tractors.

In addition the very popular and successful cultural displays of music, dancing and story telling, reflecting all the cultures and traditions of the area will also be there.

As is usual, on the preceding Friday evening there will be the now famous tractor road run (with some 200 tractors).

This is an excellent spectacle and there are many vantage points along the route to see these machines go past. Please note that modern tractors will be required to return to the car parking field following the road run - only the vintage vehicles can remain in the rally field.

The road run is followed by the usual barbeque with live music - you can bring your own food or purchase on-site and use the barbeques already provided to cook it. This barbeque has proved to be one of the most popular aspects of the festival and grows in popularity each year – it is now established as a regular feature in the social activity of the local and wider community.

Admission costs for the public have not been increased and remain at last year’s rates - £5 for Friday evening and £7.50 for Saturday, from 10am, (concessions apply).

The event is supported by Petticrew Hire, Charles Hurst, NFU Mutual Newtownards, NG Bell, CEMEX, Eagle Hill Potato Marketing and others and the proceeds will go to support worthy causes within Northern Ireland.

Please note that exhibitors must be in the rally field before 1pm on Saturday.
