YARA UK, the fertiliser and crop nutrition specialist, is investing in growth with a key appointment to strengthen its position in Ireland.

Jan Jensma joined as area manager in Ireland in September, having worked for many years in agriculture and retail and wholesale supply, including as area manager for Durapak Agri Limited in Cork.

“We are delighted that Jan has joined our commercial team in Ireland,” says Nicholas Morrison, Yara business manager in Ireland. “With his skills and competence Jan will be a great asset to our business and will be looking after existing agricultural merchant accounts as well as developing new business opportunities. This is a very exciting time in Irish agriculture for Jan to join Yara and we are confident that he will rise to the challenge.”

Born in Slane, now living in Co Louth, Jan – who is married with two children, Isabel, 4, and Owen, 2, – has strong family and career links to the area and sees his priority as working with his team to “raise the profile of Yara” to the benefit of Irish farmers.

“I am delighted to be working for Yara here in Ireland,” says Jan, “and I am looking forward to putting my local knowledge and expertise to good use. We will be making every effort to bring more agricultural merchants on board, taking Yara products and technical support to farmers throughout Ireland.”
