The South Antrim UFU Group recently held its last meeting of the season at the Dunadry Hotel. Mr Gary McHenry, chairman of the South Antrim Group started off the evening with a talk about his recent visit to Africa.
We are pleased that Gary is involved in a major fund raising campaign being organised by the Union.
Full details of this exciting initiative will be announced at the UFU Annual Dinner held on 4th April at the Killyhevlin Hotel, Enniskillen.
The
next item on the agenda was the presentation by Gary to all our local cereal and silage competition winners;
Winners; Spring Barley 1st - Trevor Brown, 2nd - Will McElroy, joint 3rd - Harold and David Wilson and Gerald Erwin.
Winter Wheat - 1st - Will McElroy , Joint 2nd - William Boyes & David & Alan Wallace, 3rd Dennis Minford
Silage
Dairy Class - 1st John & David Gray, 2nd - David & Alan Wallace, 3rd - James Watt
Beef & Sheep Class - 1st - William Jones, 2nd - John Tuft, 3rd - Melvin Lucas
Maize Class - 1st - Robin & George Bingham, 2nd - David & Alan Wallace , 3rd - E Boyes & Sons
Our congratulations go to all our winners and thanks to everyone who entered the competition and made them such a success.
We would like to extend our thanks to Greenfield Fertilisers who kindly sponsored our silage competitions.
The presentations were followed by our main speaker of the evening Mr Uel Erwin, Financial Consultant for N F U Mutual. Uel is well known to many members within the group and he gave a comprehensive talk on tax isssues.
