Newly elected Ulster Farmers' Union Hill Farming Chairman Seamus Maginn has this week welcomed the Wool Boards announcement to increase 2008 wool prices.

Seamus Maginn said, 'The price of wool last year was very disappointing so this announcement is very welcomed. We need competition in the market place and this is good to see. Producers were paid considerably more up front last year from other sources and the Wool Board has to respond to this. Wool producers need a way of reaching a price which covers the cost of clipping and offers producers a return for their efforts".
Seamus is farming in the foothills of the Mournes; a fourth generation hill sheep and suckler cow farmer. He is married with three children. Seamus is currently Chairman of the UFU Donard Group.
