The three winners of the UFU membership competition run at this years Balmoral Show, sponsored by Emerald Isle Recycle were:
o Noel Titterington, Hillsborough, UFU Lagan Group;
o Lynda Steele, Crumlin, UFU South Antrim Group;
o Leonard McIvor, Cookstown, UFU East Tyrone Group.
Each winner will receive a voucher for £250, which can be used for the purchase of any Emerald Isle Recycle products.
At the Show UFU members were asked: "Approximately how many tonnes of crude oil is equal to one tonne of recycled plastic?".
The correct answer was 1.8 tonnes. This figure highlights the value of recycling farm waste plastic against sending it for landfill.
Any farmer seeking more information regarding Emerald Isle Recycle's excellent on farm collection service or the special discount for UFU members should contact Roy Livingston Emerald Isle Recycle ( Tel 028 9447 3583) or Angus Cuthbert, UFU (Tel 9037 0222).
