We are delighted to welcome Bertie Swan, Drumany Kinawley, as new South-West Fermanagh Group Chairman.
Bertie has been farming for over 50 years at his farm in Drumany, which he took over from his late father Billy. Billy Swan was a great supporter of the UFU where he held the position of County Chairman and Group Chairman, he was also on the Pigs Marketing Board.
Currently Bertie farms 100 heifers on 90 acres of land. His other interests includes boating and watching rugby, which he played for Portora. Bertie and his wife Yvonne, who lectures in South West College, have three daughters.
Bertie’s current farming concerns are the water levels of Upper Lough Erne and milk, lamb and beef prices, which he will be actively bringing forward to the UFU meetings at Headquarters.
This year the Fermanagh Ulster Farmers’ Union members are going on their annual study tour to Krakow, Poland from 27th – 30th September 2015. Bertie and all the members partaking are looking forward to this very interesting trip.
We are looking forward to the Fermanagh Show on the 4th August and 5th August where you will have an opportunity to meet our new President and join with us for light refreshments in our Enniskillen office. There will be a number of financial services seminars during the show, everyone is welcome to attend.
Our next meeting for the Group Committee is organised for Thursday 23rd July, 2015 at 2pm in the Group Office, to plan for the next Winter Programme.
