Guest speakers lined-up for joint meeting

Tuesday, October 5, will see the first meeting of the 2016 '“ 2017 winter Programme for the North Tyrone Group. The topic for the joint meeting with the Mid Tyrone group is a question and answer session, with a very interesting panel.

The following panel will be hosted by a special guest: Trevor Lockhart, Chief Executive at Fane Valley Co-op Society; David Gibson, Director of Agriculture at Moy Park; Nick Whelan, Group Chief Executive at United Dairy Farmers; and Cormac McKervey, Head of agriculture NI, Ulster Bank

Please note the location of this meeting will be the Newtownstewart 2000 centre at 8pm and supper will be provided. All new and existing members will be made most welcome, so if you are a regular attender or haven’t been to a meeting before a warm welcome will be provided.

The North Tyrone group would like to congratulate members Leslie Buchanan on becoming the first farmer in Tyrone to host the Bank of Ireland’s open farm weekend. Not only did he host the event but made it a total success with visitors travelling miles to see the sights of the Curlyhill. Well done Leslie, Ruth and family Jonathan, Joanne and Judith and mother Rachel.

Members recently enjoyed hospitality at Omagh Show and the winner of the hamper was David Boggs, Victoria Bridge.

North Tyrone group recently hosted a meeting for members involved with the A5 road scheme following a meeting they had with Stormont ministers. This was to keep members updated on the current situation and allow them to air any issues.

Members are reminded of the county Tyrone Dinner Dance held in the Silver Birches Hotel, Omagh, on Friday, November 25, 2016, at 8pm, music is by CRUSH.

In July, members hosted the presidential team at the farm of John Wauchob, Newtownstewart. This included a tour of the anaerobic digester hosted by John Wauchob and Lord Hamilton and a question and answer session with the president Barclay Bell and deputy’s Victor Chestnutt and Ivor Ferguson.
