After a typically wet Northern Ireland summer, the members of the West Antrim Group are looking forward with hope to a better autumn which brings with it the start of the winter programme.
The joint committee of West and Mid Antrim groups have organised a wide and varied programme which should be of interest to a wider cross section of members.
The programme begins on October 13 with a Health and Safety workshop organised in conjunction with the Health and Safety Executive NI, partially sponsored by the NFU Mutual Insurance.
This event will be held on Harold Johnston’s farm at Ballybollan House, 5 Clooney Road, Ahoghill.
The workshop will begin at 10am with tea and coffee finishing at approximately 1pm for lunch. During the morning there will be various talks, safety demonstrations and a farm walk making for a very informative and interesting day.
The Farm Health Check van will be there from 9am to 2pm.
The event is limited to 60 people and all those attending will be eligible for a health and safety certificate issued by HSENI.
A demonstration of the newly launched NFU Mutual Safety Hub for small farms will also take place.
To book your place contact the Toomebridge office on 028 79650644 or Ballymena office on 029 25652773. Places will be allocated on a first come first served basis.
Other events will include a ‘Farming Breakfast’ sponsored by the Bank of Ireland which will be held in Hillstown Farm Shop, Randalstown, on December 1 at 9.30am. The speakers will be William Thompson from the Bank of Ireland and Eric Reid, from Moy Park.
To finish the year the group plans to attend the Kingspan Stadium, Belfast, for an Ulster Rugby match. The coach will be leaving Ballee car park at 5pm. Group chairman George Kerr encourages all members to note these dates and plan to attend the events.
The West Antrim office has the pleasure of welcoming and introduing to its clinets the newest member of the team – Mrs Caroline Stanley. In the months since she has joined the group Caroline has proved herself to be an asset to the team.
