Meeting with minister on National Parks
THE Northern Ireland Environment Minister, Alex Attwood, is to attend a meeting organised by the Ulster Farmers’ Union where he will speak to union members regarding National Park designation in Northern Ireland.
The Mournes, the Causeway Coast and Antrim Glens and Fermanagh Lakelands were recently identified by the Minister as the most likely areas for possible National Park designation.
UFU president Harry Sinclair said: “This meeting is the perfect opportunity for UFU members to speak directly with the Environment Minister about the Designation of National Parks in Northern Ireland. The minister will outline his vision for the implementation of National Parks in Northern Ireland and our members will have the chance to raise any queries that they may have and also to put their views on this important issue directly to the minister.”
The UFU would like to encourage all members to attend this important meeting especially those who may be directly affected by a National Park designation in their area.
The meeting will take place on Monday, 20th August 2012 at 8pm in the Glenavon Hotel, Cookstown.
