Larne Group Tour

Larne UFU Group will be having a tour of Stormont hosted by the Ulster Unionist party on Monday 4th March 2013.

The bus will depart from the Fire Station carpark in Larne at 7.00pm, and a stop can also be made at Ballynure if necessary. Please contact the Larne office on 02828 272728 to book a space on the bus. Family and friends are also welcome.

West and Mid Antrim Day Trip

The West and Mid Antrim Group are organising a day trip to Jim Hamilton’s focus farm in Pomeroy.

The Hamilton family manage around 180 dairy cows plus replacements and in 2009 the farm completed the conversion of organic milk production. This has led to a number of management changes being made. Also in 2009 the farm was selected as focus farm under the category of organic production.

The Hamilton’s have installed a new computerised feeding programme that links milk yield information to parlour feeders. The computerised feeding systems also slows the gradual build-up of concentrate levels to fresh calved cows which helps increase peak milk yields and minimise digestive upsets. The trip to Jim’s farm is on Tuesday 12th March.

The bus will depart from Ballee, Ballymena at 1pm and will make a stop in Randalstown O.C Carpark at 1.05pm. The trip will cost £5 per person and you will need to bring your farm ID number with you on the day of the trip. To book your place, please contact your local group office as soon as possible due to limited space.
