In the morning members visited Mash Direct in Comber. We had a presentation from Martin and Tracy Hamilton followed by a tour of the premises.

We then enjoyed a hearty lunch in Harrison’s of Greyabbey before completing the day with a visit to Corries Meats & Smiddiehill Farm, Newtownards. It was great to see around the local businesses and getting the opportunity to hear their stories. Our thanks goes to all those involved who took the time out of their busy schedules to show us around.

With Balmoral Show now over for another year, the focus now falls onto our local shows. Let’s hope the good weather continues into June.

Our own local show, Lisburn & Saintfield District Show, is due to take place on Saturday, June 18, at Balmoral Park, Maze, Lisburn. All members are welcome to call into the UFU stand for a cup of tea and a chat.

The cereal competition will be taking place next month so anyone interested in competing please contact the office as soon as possible to lodge your entry.

Members are asked to forward any suggestions to the office for the forthcoming Winter Programme which will be finalised in early August. Committee Members are always keen to hear new ideas and we would welcome lots of variety to our programme.

Finally we wish all our members a productive and safe summer and look forward to seeing you all at our Group meetings commencing in October.
