2012 was an extremely busy year for the NW Derry Group and so far 2013 looks to be no different. The number of members in the group increased in 2012 and we would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your continued support and hope 2013 will be a successful year for all of you.

The start of 2013 brings a number of different events to the area, beginning with the final meeting of the Winter Programme being held on Monday 4th February at Roe Park Resort, Limavady at 8pm. There are two speakers for the evening. Andrew Dale, AFBI Hillsborough he will be discussing reducing feed costs through grassland management. A change to the evenings programme brings Andrew Addison, UFU Dairy Chairman to the Roe Park Resort to give an overview of the dairy industry. We would like to extend an invitation to all union members to attend this meeting.

In 2012, the group held a number of successful Cesar marking events which involves a data tag being fitted to vehicles. This in itself acts as a deterrent to would-be thieves but more importantly can facilitate in the identification of your vehicle should it be stolen. NFU Mutual is also offering a significant discount on insurance premiums for agricultural vehicles fitted with these devices. Craig’s Farm 15 Carmoney Road, Eglinton, BT47 3JH have kindly offered to host the first Cesar marking day of 2013 on Saturday 23rd February where a number of Cesar fitments will be offered at a reduced rate thanks to funding from Derry City PCSP and PSNI. Please contact the office to book a place.

Lastly the group hosted a rugby trip to Ravenhill to support Ulster in their win against Edinburgh last year. The group is currently planning its next trip to Ravenhill in April for the game against Newport Gwent Dragons, where we hope to have the same performance from Ulster as last year. Details for this will be released via text message when fixtures are confirmed.

If you are interested in becoming a member of UFU NW Derry Group please contact the office on 02877762996 to find out more about our membership benefits and services.
