The North Tyrone Ulster Farmers’ Union Group recently held their annual quiz and this year the attendees were encouraged to wear their Christmas jumper.
It is with delight that organisers report over £700 has been raised for the local Foyle Hospice. This is a charity close to many members heart and this was shown by the large support on the night.
The winners of the quiz were the jolly jumpers, team members were Adam McKittrick, Joyce McKittrick, Caroline McKittrick and Matthew McKittrick. There were spot prizes for best Christmas jumper. This was won by Pearl Smyth and even a wooden spoon for the team who tried hard but didn’t quite get the points to reflect their effort. Wooden spoons were won by the team from Strabane Young Farmers’ Club.
A lovely night was had by all, followed by supper provided by the group committee.
The group managers Wendy and Lesley and office staff would like to wish all members and their families a very merry Christmas and a prosperous new year, and sincerely thank their members for all their support at the various meetings and events throughout 2015 and look forward to their continued support in 2016.
Members are also reminded that the 2016 UFU diaries and wall planners are available for collection in the group office.
Members are reminded that the union are now keeping members up to date with text messages and weekly email bulletins. If you are currently not receiving either of these please let the group office know as your details can be added.
The next group meeting will be on Monday, January 4, 2016, when the topic for the evening will be Share Farming, Succession Planning and Pension Changes. Speakers for the night will be Jason Rankin and Allan Downes, NFU Mutual financial advisor. This meeting will be held in the Fir Trees Hotel, Strabane at 8pm.
