Voluntary Initiative Check it Out Tool launched

The Voluntary Initiative Check it Out Tool, developed by the Crop Protection Association with support from Catchment Sensitive Farming, has been designed to help farmers review and improve spraying practices.

This is a simple and easy to use tool which should help farmers and sprayer operators check the key factors for keeping pesticides out of water, and evaluate their own farm practices.

Upon completion it provides feedback on accepted best practice, and provides recommendations for improvement.

The online tool and has 22 multi-choice questions covering planning and management, filling and handling, soil management and field practice and shouldn’t take any longer than 20 minutes to complete. After completing the questions, users are given a score for each aspect of their spraying operation, and an overall score.

The tool has been allocated CPD points by both NRoSO and BASIS.

You will have to share some personal information if you wish to collect your points. All other information and answers you supply will be confidential to the VI. It will be anonymised and used to build up and track a national picture of best practice.
