The Ulster Farmers’ Union will join Rural Support, the listening and signposting service for farmers and rural families in Northern Ireland, in their ‘Wellies to work’ campaign to help raise awareness of the charity and the services that they offer to the rural and farming community in Northern Ireland.
This awareness raising initiative will take place on Friday 5th June 2015.
In a bid to raise awareness participants will upload selfies of themselves wearing their wellington boots to work, in solidarity with the charity.
Using the hashtag #WelliesToWork they will post these selfies to Twitter using the caption ‘Supporting @RuralSupport’.
The charity aims to launch a viral Twitter campaign to raise the profile of Rural Support. The most original, creative selfie will win a pair of wellington boots, courtesy of Simple Power.
UFU Deputy President Barclay Bell has expressed his support for the campaign: “The Union would encourage members to participate in the ‘Wellies to work’ initiative on Friday 5th June 2015.
“This is a fantastic opportunity to raise awareness of the vital services that Rural Support provide. With ever increasing pressures being placed on the farming community the continued provision of these support services is vital, for this reason I will undoubtedly be wearing my wellies and would encourage others to do so as well.”
