NEWTOWNARDS Young Farmers’ Club recently held a hugely successful night on Saturday, November 12 at the La Mon Hotel.
The club won an outstanding 15 cups at County Down’s YFCU annual dinner. Cups ranged from group debating, dairy judging and farm scrap, won at both county and Northern Irish level.
Prizewinners included young members such as Sara Townley and Emily Moore, as well Hannah Young and Graeme Warden.
Newtownards Young Farmers’ Club have had an extremely successful year at competitions, as well as an extra seventeen new members signed up this year.
At the recent group debating heats held in Saintfield High School on November 16 Newtownards YFC qualified a wonderful four teams to the Northern Ireland finals.
Sara Townley, Emily Moore and Anna Brown gained 1st place in 12-14 age group, Ewan Dalzell, Matthew Patton and Ian Lemon were placed second in 14-16, Joy Dalzell, Jane Patton and Heather Martin gained second place in 18-21 and Andrew Patton, Laura Wilson and Hannah Young were placed first in 21-25 age group.
The teams will head to Omagh for the Northern Ireland finals on Monday, November 26 for hopefully another successful night.
