Saturday, April 9, saw Cappagh YFC members attend the Annual YFCU AGM and Conference. Cappagh YFC were lucky enough to get placed in the top nine clubs in the club of the year competition. Unfortunately we did not get through to the final stage, but this is still a huge achievement that we are all very proud of.

I would like to once again thank everyone who helped us to get that far in the competition and put in a lot of hard work and late nights to get us to that stage.

Congratulations must go to Matthew Wilson who was crowned YFCU Junior member of the year. Matthew is very deserving of this award as he has put a lot of time and effort into helping make our club successful in his past five years of membership to Cappagh YFC. He is a great representative of our club and we are very proud of how far he has come.

Also James McCay had outstanding results in the Ulster Young Farmer competition, picking up first place in the sheep section, getting placed in a number of other sections and being placed second overall in Northern Ireland.

As this is James’ first year of membership, this is a huge achievement that we are very proud of.

Friday, April 22, brought the long-awaited Ken Russell Rosebowl and One Act Drama competition in which Cappagh YFC members had been practising for over three weeks.

The hard work put in by all cast and crew members definitely paid off, which explains the impressive silverware that was brought home to Cappagh YFC. Many Congratulations must go to Ella Hawkes who won ‘Best Junior Actress’.

Cappagh YFC also got the awards for ‘Best Use of Props’, ‘Most Memorable Moment’ and of course not forgetting overall winners of the 2016 Ken Russell Rosebowl. This could not have been made possible if it wasn’t for the dedication of our members and parents. Many thanks and congratulations must also go those who spent a number of late nights and put a lot of time and effort into writing and working on the script including Adam Wilson, Nathan Moore and William Wilson.

Cappagh YFC members have also celebrated their recent successes at their annual parents and supporters night.

It is always good to look back and reflect on the successes of the club and its members throughout the past YFCU year.

Big thanks to Andrew Little for being our guest speaker on the night and many congratulations must go to everyone who picked up a prize at club, county and Northern Ireland level. Cappagh YFC are continuing to grow as a very successful club in the organisation and the silverware keeps getting more impressive as we work towards our 70th Anniversary year.

Of course this would not be possible if it wasn’t for you, our dedicated members, parents and supporters, as without you Cappagh YFC would cease to exist.
