Garvagh club looking forward to anniversary

GARVAGH Young Farmers’ Club have had an action packed few months, county dinner was held on November 16 at the Lodge Hotel, Coleraine, Garvagh YFC had a great turn out of members it was a great evening enjoyed by all, with a total of four prizewinners.

Congratulation must go to Caitlin Topping, Harriet McLean, Alfred Clyde and Stephen McCahon.

On December 4 saw the club make their way to Dundonald Icebowl for an ice skating session before Christmas. It was an eventful night for the members of Garvagh YFC some took to the ice like ducks to water other may need more practise. A great night’s craic was enjoyed by all.

2013 for Garvagh Young Farmers’ Club it is a year of celebration; as this will mark the club’s 75th anniversary. Who would have thought that from their first club meeting held in the creamery room, with an initial enrolment of 31 members that 75 years on the club has over 50 members and is going from strength to strength.

Garvagh YFC has produced many successful members who went on to represent Garvagh at national level, with various members being part of the YFCU presidential team, board members of Rural Youth Europe, members representing Ulster at the European Rally and members going on international exchange and members being selected for the Ulster team at national stockjudging.

Garvagh have had numerous calls for celebrations down through the years and to celebrate the 75th birthday the club will be holding a 75th anniversary dinner on Saturday 2nd February in the Lodge Hotel, Coleraine. The guest speaker for the evening will be Mrs Pam Robinson.

Tickets are selling fast for the evening, but if you would like to be present then please contact club leader Alfred Clyde (07743069118) or secretary Stephen McCahon (07809657798) to reserve a place.

Tickets are priced at £25 for adults and £14 for children. Invites have been sent out to as many people as possible but this has been a difficult task to not forget someone so please if you’ve not received an invite take this as an apology and get your ticket booked for the big night.
