Successful start to Glarryford’s winter programme

GLARRYFORD’S successful summer has continued into their winter programme titled ‘Life Skills’ with an astonishing amount of new members joining, retention of existing members high and excellent personal achievements reached by club members at competitions so far.

The Club had a high interest this year for the Floral Art Competition entitled “a season of ...” with both Juniors and Seniors. The competition was 1st October in Ballymoney and special mentions go to Demi Alexander who gained 4th place with the Juniors. Catherine Armstrong also got placed 2nd with the Seniors securing a place in the final at Balmoral in May. The Club would like to take this opportunity to thank Karen Frew for giving her advice and expertise to the girls on the lead up to the competition.

Well done to all those who took part in the Public Speaking Competition. Yet again a brilliant line-up from Glarryford made it to the NI finals at Ballee on Monday 5th November.

Congratulations to the following club members 12-14- 1st Joshua Park and 2nd Suzanne Reid, 14-16- 1st Cathy Reid, 18-21- 1st Margaret Dunlop and 2nd Mark McAuley. Impromptu results are as following 18-21- 1st Margaret Dunlop, 21-25- 2nd Andrew McAuley and 2nd Rachael Frew.

The club would like to thank its public speaking coaches Annette Kerr and Margaret Ferguson for providing club members with advice on their speeches prior to the competition.

Glarryford YFC held their Annual Chinese Night at the Happy Villa in Galgorm on Wednesday, 17th September. This was another successful club event with a room full of members, parents and friends who all helped raise £220 for Cancer Research in the raffle.
