YFCU McCulla Artic Challenge 2012 reminder

THE Young Farmers’ Clubs of Ulster (YFCU) would like to remind all members who have registered for this year’s McCulla Artic Challenge that the competition is taking place this Saturday, 13th October 2012 at Nutts Corner, Antrim.

Please note that registration is now at 9.00am and the competition will begin shortly after this.

In addition to the challenge, other activities will be taking place during the event and Hillhall YFC will once again be providing refreshments and food.

If you have a member of your club taking part please come along and show your support.

The winner of the Artic Challenge will be trained and put through his/her HGV class 1 licence and given 35 hours of CPC training (certificate of professional competence) at a cost of approximately £3,500 and offered a job within McCulla Transport Ireland. There will also be prizes for second and third place.

To take part in the challenge, members must be at least 20 years old and hold a car licence but NOT an HGV licence.

Each entrant will be shown the basics of how to drive a 16 metre long articulated truck. They then will be asked to drive around a specifically designed course to test them on their natural skills in areas such as spatial awareness, accurate reversing, controlled manoeuvring, self presentation. Ken Irwin driving school will provide judges to access each entrant’s skills.

Members taking part in the competition must bring their driving licence and YFCU membership card on the day.
